He Never Said He Loved Me by Doreen Shirley Johnson

He never said he loved me, but always kissed my hand
His smile forever on his lips, like he was in never-never land.
His long black lashes around his eyes
Pierced my heart to realise
He never said he loved me, but always kissed my hand.

Sometimes we strolled along the paths
Stopping now and then to have a chat.
I wore a blue dress with a long pink sash,
Sitting together on the still damp grass.
A thrush was singing high up in a tree,
When he glanced into my eyes, just smiling at me.
He never said he loved me, but always kissed my hand.

Many many hours we spent together
Wishing it would go on forever.
His laugh and smile I hold so dear
Like his slender hands around my waist.
Flowers upon flowers he would often give me.
The two of us embraced entwined.
He never said he loved me, but always kissed my hand.

I was chatting with a group of girlfriends to find out if boyfriends, or even husbands, say those three little words 'I love you.' (By the way, my Eddie does)!
